# Get a Download URL

> Return a short-lived presigned GET URL for downloading a file.

Returns a short-lived presigned `GET` URL (1 hour) with `Content-Disposition` set so a download is named `display_name` rather than the raw S3 key.

### Auth

Requires a CRM read [scope](/authentication#scopes) and an active organization on the token. Any of `contacts:read`, `deals:read`, `companies:read`, or `activities:read` qualifies, as does any `*:manage` scope — manage implies read.

### Response

### Errors

| Status            | Cause                                                                                             |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `404 Not Found`   | File doesn't exist (or isn't in this org, or is archived).                                        |
| `409 Conflict`    | File is still `status: "pending"` — see [Confirm an Upload](/api-reference/files/confirm-upload). |
| `502 Bad Gateway` | Could not generate the presigned URL.                                                             |
